  1. How Long Have They Been in Business?

Typically, longevity denotes trustworthiness. And yet, that is not ALWAYS the case. Sometimes a company gets handed down OR sold and the new owners have decided to place an emphasis on another area of the business, than what you expected. Ask about that in your interview questions.

"Family Owned" or "Owner Operator" is often a key for the quality that you expect. Now. franchise operations are not to be discounted just because they are NOT "Family Owned" or "Owner Operator". Shine, Fish and Squeegee Squad all have strict guidelines for the way they do things... their procedures. It is built into their corporate guidelines and Franchisees are contracted to implement them.

But you and I know it always boils down to employees. "Family Owned" or the "Owner Operator" automatically tells you that you are not far away from talking to the Boss, if ever needed. With Corporate Franchises that is not always the case.

Look for pictures on their website. Not that it tells the complete story, but it does tell you that they are quite proud of their work. Are the photos only million dollar properties or do they also include properties typical of the general public.

And Reviews, although nice to have... to please Google... to assist with getting to the top of the the Search Engine Page Results... to tell the world that the company is " The Best "... don't always tell the correct story either. Reviews can be purchased, even though it is against Google guidelines, but yet it occurs. Testimonials are designed to give you peace of mind in making your choice, whether in business 1 year, 8 years (as we are in 2025), or 40+ years.

Why not call the company you feel interested in hiring. Interview them on the phone. Choose 2 or 3. See, when its all said and done, you need to be comfortable in your decision to hire a Window Washer.
